GOP Budget Plan: Cut Social Security and Medicare, Raise Retirement Age

A far right MAGA Republican group the Republican Study Committee, which is affiliated with about 170 House Republicans has come up with a budget plan for 2025, It would end medicare as we know it and make it a self funding plan, like other private plans (many of which have failed) and raise the retirement age to 69.

Abortion, which the plan mentions 77 times, would be banned, along with birth control and IVF. Speaker Mike Johnson, is a member and was once chairman of the group.

Democrat Bill Pascrell had this to say:

“Just now 80% of republicans in Congress called for raising the retirement age and tying social security to life expectancy. Republicans want you to work until you drop dead.”

It almost sounds like a playbook from one of the Pharoahs.

A similar plan was floated in 2012 during the Obama Election. The plan would cut a trillion and a half dollars from Social Security, and cap Medicare and Medicaid, all while creating trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the rich and corporations, according to observations by award-winning journalist Laurie Garrett.

The House Democratic Whip, U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark, issued a statement saying that Democrats would fight to stop the plan.
