Governor DeSantis has voiced his opposition to a constitutional amendment which would preserve having the right to have an abortion, which would put the health care provider and the patient in charge of the decision, instead of politicians.

He also criticized the Recreational Marijuana Measure (Amendment 3) which would, he says, go beyond legalizing pot. It would give citizens over the age of 21 the right to use marijuana for reacreational use.

    DeSantis said:

“Florida voters, over the past four or five cycles, have developed a skepticism on these amendments generally, because they’re always written in ways that are confusing. You don’t necessarily know what the intent is going to be. So, I think there’s a certain segment of voters, they default to just vote no on these things.”

Florida voters, on the other hand, when given a chance to make decisions on high profile issues, have approved several amendments including medical marijuana, raising the minimum wage level, and restoring the right of felons who have served their time to get back the right to vote.
