Experts disagree on cause of Oklahoma’s rising rents
Housing shortages and rising rents go hand-in-hand with supply-demand economics. When supply is low and demand is high, one can reasonably assume costs will rise. Rising rents in Oklahoma have led to a surge in evictions. Oklahoma City is on track to top last year’s 17,868 eviction filings, and Tulsa is trending toward the same numbers as 2023.

Oklahoma authorities seize over 5,000 marijuana plants in Kingston raid
KINGSTON, Oklahoma — Authorities seized thousands of marijuana plants and processed marijuana during a raid on an unregistered grow operation in Kingston. On Friday, July 19, 2024, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics' (OBN) Marijuana Enforcement Teams (MET) executed a search warrant at 17368 Fobb Bottom Road. The operation resulted in the seizure of 5,212 marijuana plants and 178 pounds of processed marijuana, according to a press release from the OBN. Arrests are pending.

Asian elephant at OKC Zoo suffers miscarriage
OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) - The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden said one of its Asian elephants had a miscarriage over the weekend. The zoo shared that Asha, which is one of their Asian elephants, went into premature labor Sunday, July 21. Asha was 13 months pregnant, with a due date set for April 2025. The normal gestation period for elephants is 22 months.
