CORRY — Pennsylvania State Police investigators are working to determine what led to a suspected bicycle accident where a Corry man was found seriously injured outside the city Friday morning and later died.

Authorities on Saturday evening identified the man as Daylon Vaughn Hoffman, whom Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook earlier said was pronounced dead at Corry Memorial Hospital at 9:24 a.m. Friday. Hoffman was believed to have been hit by a vehicle Thursday night, but was not discovered until about 7:40 a.m. Friday along Route 77 near Summit Road in Concord Township, according to Trooper Cindy Schick, a community services and public information officer for state police Troop E.

An autopsy was performed Friday on Hoffman, who state police said was initially found with serious injuries at the scene Friday morning.

Investigators believe Hoffman was injured in a suspected hit-and-run crash that happened in the area where he was found. The accident was suspected of occurring sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Schick.
