Tie between Fort LeBoeuf and McDowell students highlight first athlete of the week polls

There were exactly 1,800 votes cast in the Erie Times-News' first full list of Seaway Windows and AHN polls for Erie County's male and female athletes during District 10's fall sports season.

That rounded-off total included a rare tie for one of the three ballots.

Fort LeBoeuf soccer player Noah Ardillo and McDowell cross country star Kamden Kramer each received 121 votes in the male athlete of the week category.

Ardillo was nominated for scoring twice when the Bison beat Corry 4-0. Kramer, for the third and final time as a Trojan, won the varsity boys race for his school's invitational at Brown's Farm.

LeBoeuf celebrated a second poll victor in Dominic Walters. The quarterback's 76-yard touchdown run, and even more vital two-point conversion, with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter were the difference when the Bison won a dramatic 29-28 final over the traditional power Farrell.

Walters, with 122 votes, was the only candidate who surpassed 100. Corry's Nolan Carey (62) was a distant second.

Erie High soccer player Kirra DiPaolo, with 197 votes, won the first female athlete of the week poll. She was listed on it thanks to her three-goal, one-assist effort when the Royals blanked Oil City 7-0.

DiPaolo was just shy of topping Fairview golfer Cora Hirz (99) by exactly 100.

    This week's ballots were:

    How it works

Now through early November, the Erie Times-News will hold Seaway Window and AHN polls for Erie County's male and female athlete of the week during District 10's fall sports season. Separate polls also will be posted for football.
