    Kayla McBride with another big performance but the Lynx fall in overtime

    NEW YORK – Erie native Kayla McBride and the Minnesota Lynx came up just short in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday night as the New York Liberty hung on to a 67-62 win in overtime to win the franchise's first WNBA championship.

    The Lynx and Liberty went back and forth throughout the game and played the second overtime game of the WNBA Finals. It was the first time in WNBA history that two finals games went to overtime.

    New York dominated the overtime period with a 7-2 run to secure the win.

    McBride, a Villa Maria graduate, scored 21 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. McBride also pulled down five rebounds, dished out five assists and grabbed four steals for the Lynx. She also was a big part of the Minnesota defense, keeping star Sabrina Ionescu to five points.
