Ulster lawmakers approve state grant application to repair county pool
KINGSTON – By a 21 to two vote, the Ulster County Legislature Tuesday night approved rebuilding the 50-year-old county swimming pool in New Paltz. New data has revealed the top 10 most cultured states in the U.S. The Cultural States Index, by student travel company Rustic Pathways analyzed each state against five factors: the number of National Historic Landmarks (NHLs), museums and galleries, live performance spaces, film and media sites, and literary sites. Each factor was compared against the state's population and land area (sq mi). Results for each category were converted into an overall score out of 100 to determine the ranking.

Historic Ship La Amistad Will Soon Dock in Kingston
KINGSTON – Hudson River Maritime Museum announced that it will host the Amistad Saturday, August 3-Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at their Kingston Waterfront campus. The 129-foot schooner is a replica of the 19th century ship, La Amistad, which became widely known for the 1839 uprising of enslaved captives from Sierra Leone who overthrew the crew and commandeered the ship into waters off the coast of New York.
