Chelsea striker Armando Broja completed a last-minute move to Everton on loan which just beat the transfer deadline.

Broja was in extended talks with Ipswich Town over the last fortnight of the transfer window, but talks hit issues over an Achilles injury the Albania international was carrying. Even up until 30 minutes before Friday's 11 p.m deadline, Broja was still in talks to join Kieran McKenna's side, only for talks to collapse in the final throes of the window.

It looked like Broja, 22, was going to stay at Chelsea -- one of several players out of the mix under Enzo Maresca - but then Everton made their move.

The club submitted a deal sheet for Broja - a process which grants them an extra two hours to complete the transfer - and on Saturday morning at 1.55 a.m. Everton confirmed they had secured the signing of Broja on loan.

Chelsea will pay Broja's wages until he is fit to play for Everton, a source confirmed to ESPN. The deal has an option to make the move permanent in the summer for £30 million ($39.3m).

Everton's director of football Kevin Thelwell, said: "Having monitored Armando's journey for a number of years, we're very pleased to have been able to bring him to the club.

"Armando is still a young player who has already built up some impressive experience but someone we also feel has lots more potential to be unlocked.

"First and foremost, we will work with him to get him fit as soon as possible. Then, his addition will strengthen our options in the attacking department."
