EAGAN, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a two-year contract extension with the defensive tackle Harrison Phillips , the team announced Tuesday.

The deal is worth up to $19 million, sources tell ESPN, and ties Phillips to the Vikings through the 2026 season.

"He does a lot of great things for us that really don't get noticed from a team-building and comradery standpoint, and he's also a very good player," Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores said Tuesday after the deal was announced.

Phillips, 28, originally signed a three-year, $19.5 million free agent contract with the Vikings in March 2022 after four seasons as a backup with the Buffalo Bills . He has started every game with Minnesota since then, setting career highs in tackles in both 2022 (59) and 2023 (92) and 5.5 sacks over that period.

Earlier this month, Phillips was named one of eight Vikings captains. He had 5 tackles, 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss and batted away one pass in the Vikings' 28-6 victory Sunday over the New York Giants .
