Sacramento Kings forward Trey Lyles sustained a left groin injury during an offseason workout, the team announced Friday. He will be reevaluated in three weeks, ruling him out of Sacramento's training camp that begins Tuesday.

He will also sit out the team's five preseason games that take place between Oct. 9 and Oct. 17, and his status for the regular-season opener on Oct. 24 against the Minnesota Timberwolves could also be in jeopardy.

Last season, Lyles sat out the first 13 regular-season games for Sacramento after sustaining a left calf strain in a preseason game. He sat out another two weeks in March because of a sprained MCL in his left knee. He sat out a total of 24 games last season.

Averaging 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20 minutes per game, Lyles has become an integral part of Sacramento's bench unit, particularly when it comes to guarding opponents with size.
