ESSEX, Conn. (WTNH) — Nearly 20 decorated boats participated in the Connecticut River Museum board parade on Thursday.

Executive Director of the Connecticut River Museum Elizabeth Taeser said, “We thought because this is our 50th anniversary here at the museum, and it’s a good year both to sort of look back and explore new beginnings, it would be great time to bring a summer board parade to our collection of activities.”

The museum was offering free admission during the parade.

“The Connecticut River Museum is an amazing place,” Taeser said. “Essentially, what we are doing is developing the next generation of river stewards.”
