FREMONT TWP. — Fremont Township is giving its two cemeteries a little upgrade. Back in 2020, the township board voted to spend up to $1,000 with Larsen Graphics of Caro for two three-sided signs – one each for Fremont Township Cemetery on Lobdell Road and Northgrove Cemetery on Hunt Road. Each sign has the cemetery name on one side and the cemetery rules on the other.

Following a second closed session at the end of the regular board meeting July 15, Clare Board of Education President Loren Cole released a statement, citing an “employment issue” as the reason for an ongoing investigation using a third party. Superintendent Jim Walter II was placed on administrative leave at the same time (a month ago) but the investigation was not given as the reason for Walter’s being placed on the leave.
