Portland man sentenced for shooting at brother’s suspected killer at vigil, leaving 1 dead
PORTLAND, Ore. (TCN) -- A judge sentenced a 28-year-old man to 14 years in prison for shooting at his brother’s accused killer, causing an uninvolved man to die. The Oregonian/Oregon Live reports Marquise Epps was handed the sentence after he pleaded guilty in June to first-degree manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of Jimmy Lee Melton. Epps reportedly did not fire the shot that struck and killed Melton, but Multnomah County Senior Deputy District Attorney Jeff Auxier reportedly argued that Epps' actions led to Melton’s death.

Portland could see record number of consecutive 90-degree days
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The number of consecutive days at or above 100 degrees and 90 degrees in Portland is threatened by the Pacific Northwest’s latest heatwave. In 1941, Portland saw a total of five consecutive days with temperatures at or above 100 degrees, according to Portland’s National Weather Service. Temperatures climbed to at least 100 on July 13 and continue through July 17. This nearly 85-year-old record is now threatened as the number of days at or above 100 degrees grows this week.
