Coppinger Awarded Officer Of The Year
The Cookeville Police Department recognized Detective Alyssa Coppinger as the 2023 Officer Of The Year. Coppinger is a member of the SWAT team, Armor team, and Recruitment team. She is also a firearms instructor and integrating communications assessments and tactics instructor. Police Chief Randy Evans said Coppinger’s hard work has impressed everyone.
Collinwood Commission Discusses Paving & Historical Grants
The Collinwood City Commission met in regular session on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the conference/courtroom of Collinwood City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Glenn Brown. All commissioners were in attendance, including Mayor Brown, Vice Mayor Jeremiah Stults, Commissioner Debie Pigg, Commissioner Shaundale Hanback, and Commissioner Kim McFall. City Manager Gary Victory and City Recorder Dana Simmons were in attendance as well.

Restrictions Changed For Relative Caregiver Program
A new state law reduces the requirements needed for families to become eligible for the Relative Caregiver Program (RCP). UCDD Case Manager Marcia Riddle said the change allows relatives with any court order to enroll in the program instead of requiring a final order. Riddle said she thinks it is a positive change because they have a lot of people in the region who are now able to access the program.
