The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says torrential rains leading to flooding are possible in southeast Wyoming today and especially on Saturday [July 27]. The agency posted the following on its website: brief return of monsoon moisture is expected on Friday and Saturday. This will bring scattered to numerous storms to the area during the afternoon and evening. Torrential rains could exist in these storms which could lead to possible flooding concerns on both days.

Western Receives National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Grant
Western Wyoming Community College (Western) has received a $337,344 Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. government’s independent science agency. The three-year grant will fund the College’s HyFlex initiative. Stallions fall in final conference games; state tournament up next
The Rock Springs American Legion baseball team completed their AA Conference season yesterday by dropping a road doubleheader at Jackson by scores of 5-1 and 5-2. The Stallions and Giants were playing for the conference #7 seed in next week’s AA State Tournament, which will be played in Casper. The two losses put Rock Springs into the #8 in the tournament.
Meet this year’s Red Desert Rodeo Royalty
The Red Desert Roundup Rodeo will take over the Sweetwater Events Complex Grandstand Arena this Friday and Saturday night, July 26 and 27. Helping to oversee the festivities will be this year’s rodeo royalty. They are Junior Princess Ashten Folks, and Junior Princess 1st Attendant is Kennedy Kleinlein. A pair of local high school track and field competitors captured the two individual titles at the Pioneer Day Fun Run in Cowley Saturday morning. Lovell High School incoming senior Stetson Asay easily won the 5K race in a time of 21:35, while Rocky Mountain High School sophomore-to-be Dalan Wambeke defended his title in the mile, winning the race in a time of 6:37, 30 seconds faster than his time a year ago.
