Texas Woman, Oldest Living Person in US, Celebrates 115th Birthday
HOUSTON, TX — A Houston woman, who is the oldest living person in the United States, celebrated her 115th birthday Thursday, July 25, 2024. Elizabeth Francis, born in Louisiana in 1909, lives with her 94-year-old daughter.
TRAFFIC ALERT: Portion of Henderson St. in Lufkin closed for repairs
LUFKIN, Texas — A portion of Henderson Street is closed for repairs Friday, according to the city of Lufkin. A spokesperson for the city said heavy rainfall damaged a culvert west of 801 Henderson. Crews are working to repair the damaged areas, and are expected to continue through early next week.

Rusk man dies in ejection crash after driving off U.S. 69
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Rusk man is dead after an incident while driving on U.S. 69 Thursday. According to Texas DPS, Derek James Burns, 36, was killed after overcorrecting and driving off U.S. 69 Thursday night. The crash report said the incident happened around 8:25 p.m. about 3.6 miles north of Rusk in Cherokee County.
