ACC Commission Votes to Change how TSPLOST funds are allocated
The Athens-Clarke County commissioners are changing how they fund transportation projects through the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). TSPLOST, a 1% sales tax, funds various transportation projects approved by county voters. The current TSPLOST 2023 is meeting its revenue goals ahead of schedule, so the next TSPLOST vote will be in May 2026 instead of November 2026.
Northeast Georgia Medical Center facilities gain high honors in emergency nursing coverage
The Northeast Georgia Medical Centers (NGMC) health system is once again receiving high honors for its medical care at a national level. NGMC Braselton and NGMC Lumpkin were recently awarded the 2024 Lantern Award by the Emergency Nurses Association. Northeast Georgia Health System is the first system in Georgia to have four campuses recognized with the award after NGMC Gainesville and NGMC Barrow received the award in 2023.
