Construction Contract Awarded for Long Swamp Creek Rec Area
Cherokee County leaders have approved a $2 million construction contract to develop the planned Long Swamp Creek Recreation Area near Ball Ground. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted July 16 to award a $2 million construction services agreement with Magnum Contracting, LLC, as well as a county-controlled contingency of $155,000, for the construction of the park. Cherokee County commissioners have voted to raise property taxes, although they approved a maintenance and operations millage rate lower than the one originally advertised. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted July 16 to approve a maintenance and operations millage rate of 5.153 mills. The previous M&O millage rate was 4.954. The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department. 24-009111- 4300 BLK Ringgold Road – Assist Other Agency – Police responded to this location after Chattanooga Police requested assistance in apprehending an aggravated robbery suspect. Officers moved in on the location and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was transported by CPD for questioning.
