UC Should Benefit From New State Outdoor Office
A new outdoor tourism office created by Governor Bill Lee should benefit the Upper Cumberland. Lee and TDEC announced the creation of the Office of Outdoor Recreation to help conserve the state’s outdoors. Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Director of Tourism Shan Stout said the Upper Cumberland relies heavily on the outdoors for tourism.
Man reported planting bomb inside Algood Walmart, police say
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Walmart on West Main Street in Algood has been cleared after a bomb threat was reported Sunday, according to the Algood Police Department. At 12:38 a.m. Monday, police said Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms did not find any devices and cleared the building.

LCSO: Man taken into custody and lockdown lifted for Highland Park Elementary after police respond to 'gunshots and screaming' in area
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — A man was taken into custody Monday morning after Loudon County officials were searching for him in the Highland Park Drive area. The Loudon County Sheriff's Office and the Lenoir City Police Department were initially searching for Caiden Hall. At the time, Hall was considered armed and dangerous. While officials were searching for Hall, Highland Park Elementary was put on lockdown.
