LA CROSSE AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INVITES YOU TO DOCUMENTARY “JOIN OR DIE” AND FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN BECOME INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY
Being a part of a club, board, or league was very common in the past. It seems that people are doing this less and being by themselves. This is hurting participation in event coordination and just being social active. “Join Or Die” looks at how this can affect people and activities. Megan Pearce talked to me about the film and event at the Rivoli on the 21st.

Wisconsin ‘foodies’ swap recommendations on a quickly growing Facebook group
As a touring musician, Dan “Spiffy” Neuman from Madison has always had a food philosophy: Don’t eat on the road what you can eat at home. “I’ve always been the guy that wanted to be like, ‘Where’s the hole-in-the-wall (where) the locals eat?’” Neuman said recently on WPR’s “Wisconsin Today.” “Even if I’m only going as far as Appleton, I want to eat something in Appleton that I can’t get in Madison.”
Did You Know That Railroad Police Exist In Minnesota + Wisconsin?
I was driving to the Nemadji Golf Course in Superior, Wisconsin yesterday and I was running late for my tee time. I noticed in the distance what looked to be a squad car, but it wasn't the normal city's squad car color. Instead, it was a white SUV. I tapped...

A new missing child alert system, different from the Wisconsin AMBER alert, was announced Thursday. The bill, known as the Prince Act, is named after 5-year-old Prince McCree, who went missing in Milwaukee in 2023, and was also created in response to the disappearance and death of 10-year-old Lily Peters from Chippewa Falls in 2022. The Chippewa Falls Police Department said her case did not meet the criteria for an AMBER alert. To issue an AMBER alert, a child must be 17 years of age or younger, in danger of serious bodily harm or death and the initiating agency must have enough descriptive information about the child, the suspect, and/or the suspect vehicle to believe an immediate broadcast alert will help locate the child. Requests for alerts are often denied.
Turnout in Wisconsin election tops 26%, highest in 60 years for fall primary in presidential year
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Turnout in Wisconsin’s election Tuesday was the highest in 60 years for a presidential year partisan primary, with over 26% of the state’s voting-age population casting ballots, based on unofficial results. The election was marked by voters rejecting two constitutional amendments that sought to limit the governor’s power to spend money and deciding a pair of hotly contested congressional primaries. The election was also the first under newly drawn legislative maps, creating dozens of competitive races in addition to other hot contests for local office. The city of Madison, a Democratic stronghold, had 45% turnout — the highest for a fall partisan turnout in at least 40 years, the farthest back the clerk’s office has records. Just over 1.2 million voters cast their ballots on each of the proposed amendments, which were the only statewide issues on the ballot open to all voters regardless of party. That comes to just over 26% of the voting-age population, which is around 4.7 million voters.
