Highs are expected to soar back into the century mark across KAKEland starting on Sunday, and they will remain there well into the start of August. This increase in heat will also bring dry weather, and both of these things could result in a flash drought across parts of the U.S.

Former Chiefs lineman sentenced to hard labor for animal cruelty
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has been convicted on two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. Tuscaloosa County District Judge Joanne Jannik sentenced Buggs on July 19 to a year of hard labor, ordering him to serve 60 days. The rest would be suspended for two years “pending the behavior of the defendant."
