3 Big Plays From the Raiders Tie With the 49ers

    2024-08-24

Preseason football isn't nearly as fun as the real thing. Even less so when it ends in a tie.

But both teams still made a lot of great plays.

    Here are 3 of them.

    Tyreik McAllister's House Call

Everyone loves a good house call.

Plays like these are why special teams can be so fun. Every special teams play can turn into a scoring play in the blink of an eye.

Tyreik McAllister's 81-yard punt return wasn't his only highlight of the night. He also had two receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown.

After failing to stick in Denver, does McAllister have a shot at a roster spot?

    Maybe.

It would be a great story if he does make it.

A RB switching to WR and making a roster spot is a great story. Add in the fact that he was in the CFL last season, and it gets even better. Stories like that are what make preseason football worth it.

    Nathan Peterman

It's nice to see Nathan Peterman making plays.

Corner is a common red zone play, which is probably why the 49ers covered it so well. Peterman stayed calm when the play was initially covered well and extended the play with his feet.

Plays like this, where the quarterback makes something out of nothing, are what distinguish quarterbacks who make the roster from those who don't.

    Carter Bradley

Stepping on the field down by three with less than two minutes left and no time-outs is a challenging situation. It's even tougher for an undrafted rookie. Thankfully, Carter Bradley isn't your typical undrafted rookie.

Bradley wasn't perfect, but he remained calm in the pocket and delivered darts when needed (including the one above).

It will be interesting to see if any teams take a chance on Bradley and give him an opportunity to develop.
