Martinis by the Bay returns to delight and give back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Martinis by the Bay will mark its annual return celebrating the titular drink for the Humboldt Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Martinis are the only invention as perfect as a sonnet. A learned gentleman once said ‘A martini is the height of American ingenuity,’ Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka Cindy Denbo said.

“All the money raised will stay local. It’s our 17th annual event. We’re looking forward to it,” Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka Megan Bradstock said.

This is an opportunity for attendees to experience a wide variety of shaken and stirred martinis.

“We have traditional martinis with a very contemporary twist. And then we have crafted martinis that are incorporating a lot of specialty ingredients. It’s delicious. Anything you want, you’re going to find,” Denbo said.

Gabriel’s Restaurant will serve up the drinks including the citrus martini, considered an iconic martini of the North Coast. Gabriel’s will also be serving up a new Raspberry Bourbon Sour martini.

“And that that is wonderful. I have taste tested that because someone needed to,” Denbo said with delight.

13 cocktails will be served including three classic varieties of martini, the “Dirty,” vodka, and gin.

“People who come and a group of friends as they do, maybe they want to really lean hard into the real martini because we use the word martini in a very loose fashion,” Denbo said.

Appetizers will be handed to guests during a silent auction where guests can bid on libation-themed baskets.

“If you want a basket full of chocolate and libations, if you want whiskey and cigars, we have it,” Broadstock said.

Those interested in joining the fun can purchase tickets online at swrotary.org or at the door for $45.

Martinis by the Bay will turn the Wharfinger Building in Eureka into the place to be on Thursday, August 8th from 5 to 7 p.m.
