LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced over $9 million in funding for multiple rural hospitals in the state, and hospitals in both Mountain Home and Eureka Springs will get a good piece of that funding.

In a press release, Governor Sanders says Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home will receive over $1.8 million and Eureka Springs Hospital will receive over $2.2 million in funding over six months.

Three other rural hospitals will also receive a part of the over $9 million in funds in the same six-month period, including:

    • Fulton County Hospital with $2.5 million in funding
    • Arkansas Methodist Medical Center with over $1.3 million in funding
    • Howard Memorial Hospital with over $1.3 million in funding

The funds come as part of the Rural Hospital Sustainability Program, which Governor Sanders says helps the long-term viability of the state’s rural hospitals, strengthens rural communities, promotes economic development and provides continued access to healthcare.

“Rural healthcare is changing, and I’m proud to support these hospitals as they pursue meaningful, lasting change to ensure Arkansans have access to quality, affordable care,” said Sanders.

The hospitals were chosen by a formula that takes into account the fiscal reality and needs of each participating hospital. To be considered for funding, hospitals must select one of two sustainability plan tracks, develop a remediation plan with clearly defined benchmarks and not use funds for things such as legal fees, tax obligations, debt services, etc.
