    High School Highlights: NT baseball walks it off on rival Evanston for 9th straight win; Trevs down Kits on volleyball court too

    BASEBALL
    New Trier 5, Evanston 4

    James Novakovic’s walk-off single capped a four-run seventh inning and handed the Trevians their ninth win a row on Thursday, April 18, in Winnetka.

    Sam Nigro tied the game with a bases-loaded walk and Max Miller had a two-run single in the seventh for New Trier (12-3).

    Mount Carmel 3, Loyola 1

    The Caravan prevailed in a pitchers’ duel on Thursday, April 18, as Loyola fell to 10-8.

    Highland Park 5, Maine West 1

    Trent Harradine knocked in three runs for the Giants in the league win on Thursday, April 18.

    Ben Lichtenfeld earned the win with 8 strikeouts and 1 run allowed through 5 innings for Highland Park (11-6).

    Highland Park 3, Libertyville 2

    Paxton Feder had a run, hit and RBI in the Giants’ victory in the annual Sterny Classic on Wednesday, April 17.

    New Trier 11, Evanston 2

    Declan Spinner, Mason Bloom and Aidan Nolan recorded two hits apiece in the Trevians’ eighth straight win on Tuesday, April 16, in Evanston.

    Pitchers Max Kaplan, Pedro Hernandez and Jack Wilson combined to allow one hit for New Trier (11-3).

    New Trier 3, Niles West 0

    Justin Wood struck out 5 in a 66-pitch shutout win for the Trevians on Monday, April 15, in Winnetka.

    Sam Nigro homered and James Novakovic knocked in a run for New Trier (10-3)

    Highland Park 4, Glenbrook North 2

    Charlie Cohen, David Finfer, Matt Pasquesi and Patrick Feder knocked in a run apiece in the Giants’ CSL crossover win on Monday, April 15.

    Luke Weber picked up the win for Highland Park (10-5) by striking out eight in a complete game.

    New Trier 7, Prospect 0

    Noah Shapo recorded 9 strikeouts in his complete-game win for the Trevians on Saturday, April 13.

    Ben Toft tripled and doubled and recorded 3 RBI for New Trier.

    Providence 17, Loyola 11

    Dre Lazar recorded four hits, including a double, but the Ramblers couldn’t keep up with the Celtics on Saturday, April 13.

    SOFTBALL
    Regina 16, Woodlands 2 (5 inn.)

    Lily Grillo had 3 hits, 4 RBI and 4 runs in the Panthers’ big league win on Thursday, April 18

    Glenbrook South 3, New Trier 2

    Addison Varca put in a solid, 6-inning effort in the circle for the Trevians on Tuesday, April 16.

    Montini 10, Loyola 8

    The Ramblers coughed up a six-run lead in the league loss on Tuesday, April 16, in Glenview.

    Regina 23, Latin 8

    Nora Grillo tallied 4 hits and 2 RBI and Jane Quinn had 3 hits and 3 runs, while also earning the win in the circle, for the Panthers on Tuesday, April 16.

    New Trier 6, Ridgewood 2

    The Trevians picked up a nonconference victory on Monday, April 15, in Winnetka.

    Loyola 4, St. Laurence 3

    Hunter Lewis smashed a two-run homer and struck out 15 batters in the Ramblers’ win on Monday, April 15, in Glenview.

    New Trier 6, Zion-Benton 2

    The Trevians prevailed in the nonconference affair on Saturday, April 13.

    GIRLS SOCCER
    New Trier 2, York 0

    Josie Noble had a goal and an assist for the Trevians on Thursday, April 18.

    Regina 3, Cristo Rey 0

    Mae O’Reagan, Evie Kroeger and Kate Ludden tallied a goal apiece in the Panthers’ win on Thursday, April 18.

    Francis Parker 2, Regina 1

    Payton Olszewski scored for the Panthers on Tuesday, April 16, in Chicago.

    BOYS VOLLEYBALL
    New Trier 25-31, Evanston 21-29

    The Trevians outlasted the Kits in the second set to earn the league win on Thursday, April 18, in Evanston.

    Loyola 25-25, St. Rita 16-21

    Liam Uruba and Dean Sollecito recorded 2 blocks apiece in the Ramblers’ victory on Thursday, April 18, in Chicago.

    Jack Lopez led the Loyola offense with 8 kills.

    St. Francis 13-25-25, Loyola, 25-22-20

    Jack Lopez racked up 14 kills and Stef Kins 15 digs as the Ramblers (17-1) took their first loss of the season on Tuesday, April 16.

    GIRLS LACROSSE
    Loyola 9, New Trier 5

    The Ramblers earned the rivalry victory on Wednesday, April 17.

    BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
    New Trier Six-Team Invite

    Emmett Boyd won the 800-meter run and Devion Johnson the 100 to lead Loyola Academy to the team title on Tuesday, April 16, when the Ramblers tallied 42 points to New Trier’s 31, Highland Park’s 24 and Evanston’s 22.

    Frank Youkhana won the shot put and discus events and Zaid Ali the high jump for the Trevians.

    Highland Park’s Charlie Ludington won the triple jump and North Shore Country Day’s Brian Smith the 400.

    BATE Invitational

    Felix Hekster (1,600-meter run) and Ben Crane (3,200) swept the individual distance events for New Trier, which topped the eight team field with 172.5 points on Saturday, April 13, in Buffalo Grove.

    William Landwer added a win in the 300 hurdles, Aidan Corboy in the long jump and Charles Hayes in the triple jump for the Trevians.

    GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
    Montini Invitational

    Alexis Simon won the shot put and Sara Byrne the 200-meter run to help Regina Dominican to second place out of seven teams on Wednesday, April 17, in Lombard.
