    Victim in weekend attack in Evansville identified

    HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s office has identified the victim in the attack as 44-year-old Corey M. Fischer.

    The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s office says Fischer died at Deaconess Midtown on June 24 after having been transported there by EMS on June 22 from the 100 blk of East Tennessee Street. An autopsy was performed on June 24 and the results are pending toxicology and the final autopsy report. The Evansville Police Department is continuing the investigation.

    The Evansville Police Department (EPD) says On June 22 after 10 p.m., the department responded to an assault in the 100 block of East Tennessee Street. Police say arriving officers located an unconscious male with visible injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital as officers and detectives began their investigation.

    The EPD says video was obtained from several sources and suspects were quickly identified. By the early morning of June 23 officers had 32-year-old Cade C. Kirk and Charles E. Miles, 35, in custody.

    Jury trial underway for 2023 Evansville double homicide

    Officers say detectives were able to confirm that the suspects knew the victim and that this was not a random attack. It is also believed that the suspects used brass knuckles in the assault. The victim from this assault died from his injuries on June 24.

    Police say Kirk and Miles are currently in the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center and have been charged with murder.

    A victim with severe head trauma has died following an attack in Evansville Saturday night.

    Two men and a woman were taken into custody after the attack. According to an affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 110 block of E. Tennessee Street in reference to an assault in progress. The caller stated a male showed up to his porch covered in blood.

    The victim reportedly lost consciousness and stopped breathing for a few minutes. He was transported to Deaconess Midtown ER, where a CT scan showed severe head trauma. Officials say the victim has now died.
