EVANSVILLE — Drivers who have been dealing with construction-related traffic hiccups on North Green River Road only have a couple months left to navigate them.

Vanderburgh County Engineer John Stoll said the contract on the trail work in the area is set to end July 12. After that, Green River Road will be resurfaced, and that work should be done by Aug. 12.

The project, which has been in progress since 2022, is adding more than two miles of an 8-foot-wide asphalt trail. The Courier & Press reported on the project at its start, which is costing about $14 million.

Funding for the trail project included a $770,000 state matching grant Gov. Eric Holcomb announced in 2021.

The project added trail off the east side of North Green River Road, from the Lynch Road area to Hightower Drive, at an entrance to Keystone Subdivision. It then crosses North Green River and winds along the west side of North Green River Road, ultimately reaching Millersburg Road
