SULLIVAN, In (WEHT) – A jury has returned a guilty verdict Friday afternoon in the trial for former Evansville business owner Amy Word, convicting her of a felony.

Word was found guilty of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a level 6 felony, from her arrest in July 2022.

Police say Word knew of illegal drug activity going on at her former business, Lamasco Bar & Grill.

The trial got started on Wednesday and testimony lasted two days.

The jury began deliberations Friday morning.

Word is still an EVSC school board member, agreeing to an unpaid leave of absence in the months following her arrest.

Sentencing is set for August 5.
