    We're bringing you Tri-State restaurant happenings and food news you need to know. Here's the latest.

    Bourbon dinner at the Farmer & Frenchman

    The Farmer & Frenchman winery and restaurant will be hosting a Bourbon pairing dinner with spirits from Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro on Thursday, Aug. 1, beginning at 7 p.m.

    On the menu will be Creole caponata, fried scallops with grilled polenta, Wagyu beef lasagna, and cherry-covered chocolate cheesecake. Tickets are $95 with Bourbon pairings or $85 without Bourbon.

    Prime Tequila Tasting

    Prime Time Pub & Grill North will be hosting a tequila tasting with Herradura Tequila on Thursday, July 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The price is $40 and will include multiple tequila tastings, small plate pairings and take-home gifts. Call or stop by the restaurant to reserve a spot.

    Block Party in Newburgh

    The Newburgh Mercantile will be hosting a block party on Saturday, July 6, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Come for strawberry and root beer floats, a lemonade stand benefitting Isaiah House, and food from La Plaza food truck. There will be special sales inside the Mercantile, the Bay House, and Girlfriends Boutique.

    Halal Food restaurant opens

    Shah's Halal Food is now open on Evansville's west side, in the former Flourish location. The menu is consistent with the ubiquitous Halal food carts found in New York City: platters with lamb, chicken, falafel or a kebab over rice with fresh veggies and signature red, white or green sauces; gyros and pita sandwiches; sandwiches and a burger; and side orders of hummus, wings and more.

    Tuesday night food truck gathering on hiatus until fall

    The Vanderburgh County 4-H Center has announced that Truck'n Tuesdays, the food truck gathering recently begun at the venue, will not take place again until September due to summer heat.
