State wrestling championships weren’t enough for recent Milton High graduates Aeoden Sinclair and Tyson Peach and Danny Heiser of Evansville High School.

All three played key parts in Team Wisconsin winning the Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 22.

Wisconsin, with Peach and Sinclair among a group of eight recent graduates headed to compete at the Division I level in college, was the top-seeded team in the bracket and cruised through pool play with a 63-3 win over Florida, a 59-7 win over Utah and a 47-18 win over California.

The competition remained lopsided in Wisconsin’s favor in the championship bracket, which started with more pool matches. Wisconsin beat Oklahoma 47-19, Minnesota 42-22 and Iowa 54-13 to advance to the gold-medal match.

A team from Ohio, which also advanced through pool play without suffering a loss awaited and provided a much stiffer challenge.

Peach’s 144-pound weight class opened the championship dual, and he beat Ohio Blue’s Adam Butler by a 12-6 decision.

Heiser, wrestling at 150 pounds, went into the championship match at 5-0 for the tournament but lost an 8-5 decision to Ohio’s Jaxon Joy.

With Wisconsin up 11-10 through five matches, Sinclair took the mat next at 190 pounds and won a 10-0 technical fall over Carson Thomas to add four points to the team’s total.

Ohio Blue went on a run in the lower weights, outscoring Wisconsin 21-5 in six matches at 100, 106, 113, 120, 126 and 132 pounds. The streak gave Ohio a 32-28 advantage going into the final match.

Kellen Wolbert rose to the occasion for Wisconsin at 138 pounds, winning by pinfall in less than a minute to score five team points and give his team a 33-32 national championship victory, the first in Wisconsin program history.

Sinclair, who is headed to the University of Missouri to continue his wrestling career, finished the tournament a perfect 7-0, while Peach, a future South Dakota State Jackrabbit, went 5-2. Heiser, a senior next academic year, was 5-1 and will eventually join Sinclair with the Tigers when his prep career is over.

The rest of the team included Bryson Busler of Watertown, Camden Rugg of Union Grove, Shane Rochon of Dodgeville, Co’ji Campbell of Kenosha St. Joseph, Liam Neitzel of Hudson, Lucas Peters of Kaukauna, Wolbert of Oconomowoc, Declan Koch of Hortonville, Jacob Herm of Neenah, Charlie Millard of Mequon Homestead, Jake Stoffel of Appleton North, Connor Mirasola of West Bend West, Cole Mirasola of West Bend West and Koy Hopke of Amery.
