Second arrest made in connection to Evansville gas station shooting

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- A second person has been arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred over the weekend that left three people injured.

Police say that Otis Rankin was taken into custody after turning himself into authorities early this morning. Rankin was a person of interest in a shooting on Sunday at the “On the Fly” gas station at the corner of Covert Avenue and South Green River Road, where three people suffered gunshot wounds, including a juvenile who sustained a serious injury. Authorities had previously arrested Luther Lawton Junior for his involvement in the shooting.

Police say that a warrant was issued for Rankin’s arrest prior to turning himself in. Rankin is charged with 2 counts of attempted murder.

Rankin was named as a suspect after he was connected to a license plate seen in surveillance footage.
