    Evansville-area food news: 9 bites of food news for you this week

    EVANSVILLE − We're bringing you Tri-State restaurant happenings and food news you need to know. Here's the latest.

    Crisp & Green to open in The Promenade

    A Crisp & Green restaurant is set to open soon in The Promenade shopping center. The national chain has almost 50 locations, but Evansville's will be the first in Indiana.

    On the menu will be healthy dishes including entree salads, grain bowls, wraps, smoothies, acai bowls, and more. According to the Crisp & Green Evansville Facbook page, on Thursday, July 18, a cash donation given to Granted at the restaurant will be repaid with a free signature salad, grain bowl, or wrap. Various Grand Opening events are listed here , including preview VIP lunches on Thursday, July 18, and Friday July 19, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; and a VIP dinner on Friday, July 19, from 5-7 p.m. Reserve and enjoy a meal free courtesy of Crisp & Green.

    Crisp & Green will be at 6436 E. Florida St., Suite 104.

    Bourbon dinner at the Farmer & Frenchman

    The Farmer & Frenchman winery and restaurant will be hosting a Bourbon pairing dinner with spirits from Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro on Thursday, Aug. 1, beginning at 7 p.m.

    On the menu will be Creole caponata, fried scallops with grilled polenta, Wagyu beef lasagna, and cherry-covered chocolate cheesecake. Tickets are $95 with Bourbon pairings or $85 without Bourbon.

    New Filipino food truck

    The Hull lotta lumpia truck is a new Filipino food truck which has announced it will be hitting the streets of Evansville beginning on August 3. On the menu will be lumpia (Filipino spring rolls), pancit noodles, fried rice and more. Watch the Facebook page for more information.

    Kipplee’s anniversary specials

    Kipplee's Pizza is turning 35 in July and has announced specials for the entire month of July. Enjoy an order of breadsticks or a 22-oz. domestic draft for $3.50, or any 16-inch specialty pizza and a dozen wings for $35.

    Turkish restaurant nears opening

    Marida Restaurant, the upcoming Turkish and Kurdish restaurant going into the former Edgewater Grill building in Newburgh, has a Facebook page and will be opening in the near future.

    The page has photos and explanations of food from Marida’s parent restaurant Edessa in Nashville, Tenn. Check it out to see manti dumplings, Turkish kebobs, Lahmacun Turkish “pizza,” and more.

    Osaka restaurant's Indonesian specials for July

    Osaka restaurant in Newburgh is serving more Indonesian specials in July. They are spicy prawn dumplings with green chili sauce and garlic oil; and tahu bakso, or tofu pockets stuffed with flavorful meatball filling and fried until crisp, and served with a drizzle of Indonesian sweet soy sauce.

    Prime Murder Mystery

    The Prime Time Pub & Grill in Newburgh will host a pirate theme Murder Mystery Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 1, beginning at 6 p.m. Diners participate as characters. The ticket price of $40 includes dinner. Drinks will be sold separately. There will be prizes, including for best dressed pirate. Seating is limited.     Prime Tequila Tasting

    Prime Time Pub & Grill North will be hosting a tequila tasting with Herradura Tequila on Thursday, July 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The price is $40 and will include multiple tequila tastings, small plate pairings and take-home gifts. Call or stop by the restaurant to reserve a spot.

    Winzerwald Sips & Samples

    Winzerwald Winery will have a Cheesecake Fest coming up on Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m., and Sunday, July 21, at 5 p.m. Chocolate, raspberry, caramel and blueberry cheesecakes will be paired with flights of sweet or dry Winzerwald wines. The cost is $15 per person. Groups of seven or more must have a reservation. Winzerwald Winery is about 1 hour east of Evansville.
