Young & Established announces new campsite

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — An Evansville nonprofit announces a new campsite to provide a safe space for children.

Young & Established says kids can go fishing, camping and experience other nature-related activities.

There will also be a focus on discussing mental health.

Young & Established says the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority will match donations only if it can meet a fundraising goal of $50,000.

Young & Established’s fundraising page says, “Green space has been shown to reduce mental distress, anxiety, depression, and a sense of greater well-being as well as promote physical activity, and young people especially should have access to such environments to support their overall health and development.”

The nonprofit says donations will be used to clean up the landscaping, increase accessibility to the water, renovate the existing building so it can be used for free community events and activities and more.
