EVANSVILLE — Right to Life of Southwest Indiana has selected a local pastor as its new executive director.

The anti-abortion organization announced its selection of Jeff Ferguson as the successor to Mary Allen Van Dyke in a news release Tuesday morning. Van Dyke has been executive director for the last 17 years.

Ferguson and his wife Rochelle also lead a non-profit organization, Not on My Watch. According to its website, it works "to empower, resource, and equip leaders, parents, grandparents, young people and all of those who care about the next generation to reject mediocrity and to herald the role of the watchman who understands the times, speaks the truth, and lives an authentic life worth emulating."

The two shared Ferguson's selection as the new executive director on the organization's podcast.

"I'm excited about this position because just what an incredible way to say, basically, you know, 'not on my watch.'" Ferguson said. "We need to arise. We need to wake up. We need to wake from our slumber as followers of Christ and be on the front lines of some of these things."

Ferguson, originally from Michigan, now lives in Newburgh.

RTLSWIN covers three counties: Vanderburgh, Warrick and Posey. The largest fundraising event held by the group is its annual Right to Life banquet. This year, former NFL player Tim Tebow will be the headlining speaker.
