    Wrestling: Five from Evansville win conference championships as Blue Devils take team crown

    Evansville took home another Rock Valley Conference wrestling title Saturday as Collin Frey (106 pounds), Brandon Staver (113), Max Kaether (144), Danny Heiser (165) and Brad Bartz (215) each won individual championships.

    Frey beat Owen Voegeli of Monroe in a 4-1 decision while Staver defeated Whitewater’s Jarvis Porcaro by technical fall.

    Kaether defeated Delavan-Darien’s Jacob Huff in an 8-2 decision in the championship round. Heiser and Bartz each won by pinfall in their championship matches. Heiser, a University of Missouri commit, pinned Sebastian Cueller of Whitewater in 23 seconds, and Bartz pinned Delavan-Darien’s Dylan Beighton in 1:07.

    Evansville scored 233.5 team points, outpacing runner-up Whitewater’s 185.

    Blake Frey took second at 126 pounds after he lost an 18-5 major decision to Max Gonzalez in the championship match.

    Race Howlett (120) and Tim Lund (285) each finished third for Evansville. Howlett won a 10-2 major decision over Clinton’s Braydyn Collins in the third-place match, and Lund pinned Brodhead/Juda’s Emmitt Allen in his third-place match.

    Adryan Wessels (175) finished fourth after he fell in his third-place match in an 8-5 decision to Jesus Barajas of Whitewater.

    McIntyre, Lohmar claim victories for Brodhead/Juda

    Brodhead/Juda came in seventh place with 109.5 points as Marcus McIntyre (138) and Joe Lohmar (150) each picked up conference championships.

    McIntyre pinned Evansville’s Lincoln Keller at 5:42 and Lohmar beat Christian Schuh of Monroe in a 7-3 decision in their championship matches.

    The Cardinals’ Landon King (215) took fourth after he was pinned by Whitewater’s Ethan Barels at 4:45 in his third-place match.

    Cougars finish eighth

    Clinton placed eighth in the meet with 100 points.

    D’Angelo Vernon took third in the 132-pound bracket after pinning Jefferson’s Devan Redenius in 1:07. After being pinned by Isaac Schoenherr of Jefferson in 1:07 in the 157-pound third-place match, Clinton’s Logan Hendricks took fourth.

    Trojans’ Tony Hamilton places second

    Beloit Turner took 10th with a score of 91 with Tony Hamilton taking second in the 285-pound bracket. Hamilton was pinned at the 3:13 of the championship match by Delavan-Darien’s Kaden Lofy.

    Brayden Ward (126), Brody Berg (150) and Carlos Ramirez (165) each placed fourth for Turner.

    Ward lost a 12-3 major decision to Jefferson’s Aiden DeBlare in his third-place match, Berg lost by 15-5 against East Troy’s Jacob Ginal in his and Ramirez was pinned at 3:12 by Joe Rufenacht of Monroe.

    Crimson Tide’s Sean Raymond takes third

    Edgerton finished the meet in 11th place with 77 points points and Sean Raymond took third in the 113-pound class.

    Raymond pinned Whitewater’s Jasen Porras in 1:46 in the class’ third-place match.
