Post Malone made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on Wednesday, August 14. Post Malone, who was invited by Brad Paisley, was joined for the historic night by Paisley, along with Vince Gill John Michael Montgomery, the War and Treaty and Lainey Wilson, who took the stage with the singer to perform a brand-new song, “Nosedive.”

“Nosedive” is part of Post Malone’s debut country record, F-1 Trillion, out on Friday, August 16. In addition to his duet with Wilson, the project also includes collaborations with an impressive list of country artists, including Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs and more..

Currently, Post Malone’s “Pour Me A Drink” collaboration with Shelton is in the Top 15, and his “Guy For That” duet with Combs is inching close to the Top 40. The New York native already had success as a rapper and pop music artist, when he made the perhaps surprising switch to country music.

“Everyone here was so accepting and kind … I think that’s a testament to them,” Post Malone tells CBS Sunday Morning, speaking of his foray into country music.

Post Malone has performed in front of massive crowds over the last few years, but admitted while on the Opry stage that he was nervous about performing at the iconic venue, especially since his invitation came from Paisley.

“I’m terrified and honored to be standing right in this spot,” he said. “My mom’s here tonight. Brad, I remember going to see you [perform] when I was like six. I wanted to say how amazingly grateful and floored I am to have you bring me out tonight and I appreciate you.”

When extending the invitation, Paisley praised Post Malone, and his deep love of country music.

“So what I’m about to ask is going to mean a lot to you,” Paisley said. “Knowing you, and knowing the respect that you have for country music and this journey you’re embarking on now as a hillbilly singer, which is gonna be massive and remarkable and amazing for both country music, and I think you. Would you like to play the Opry? Come play with me in August.

“Total invite, and it’s going to be the first of many appearances, I have a feeling, from you,” he continued. “Come experience what it’s like to play the show that started it all. You and I can jam together, and a lot of your friends will be there, and we’re gonna have a blast.”
