The video for Scotty McCreery‘s “Fall of Summer” is out! The song, the second single from his latest Rise & Fall album, was written by McCreery, along with Brent Anderson, Derek George, Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell.

“Fall of Summer,” which was the most-added at country radio when it was released in May, was an easy decision for McCreery to release, after “Cab In A Solo” became his sixth No. 1 hit.

“I’m so proud of the whole record, but this song kind of has that nostalgic feel to it. To me, I love that about music,” McCreery tells ABC Audio. “I love when a song can take you back to a memory, take you back to a place, and to me ‘Fall of Summer’ does that. Hopefully folks get that vibe as well.”

It was “Fall of Summer” that inspired McCreery to name his album Rise & Fall.

“Every album until this one, I’ve just picked a song title that I thought represented kind of where we’re at or the lead single,” McCreery said soon after the release of Rise and Fall. “But this one, something felt different, and I didn’t think there was a song title that totally captured the feeling that I had for the whole project. And I’m old school; I know it’s a single-driven world nowadays, but I want my album to tell a story, start to finish.

“I want it to be a cohesive unit,” he added. “And I didn’t feel like there was one title that did that. So I was just listening down to the songs, probably on a plane to California or something. I was listening to ‘Fall of Summer’ and I heard, ‘Here’s to the rise and fall of summer,’ and I thought, ‘Rise and Fall.’”

The American Idol alum recently released a new version of “Fall of Summer,” this one as an homage to his favorite college, NC State. The North Carolina native first changed the lyrics to the song when both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at NC State made it NCAA Final Four last spring,

In the amended lyrics, McCreery sings, “You sent one ‘I miss you’ when you got back home to Dallas / I said come see me at NC State.” Fans quickly latched onto the idea, inserting their own college names into the song, which is what inspired McCreery to drop the new version.

McCreery also recently released another video, this one for “Porch,” also from Rise & Fall, with this one showing off his wife, Gabi and son, Avery, along with their beloved dog, Moose. Watch that video here.

The 31-year-old is headlining his Fall of Summer Tour, which wraps up in early December. He was just announced as one of the openers, along with Ashley Cooke, Mitchell Tenpenny and Dasha. for Kane Brown‘s 2025 The High Road Tour, and will also headline his own UK Tour next year.
