New Turf Coming to Les Murakami Stadium in 2025
After years of anticipation and multiple delays, the University of Hawaii baseball program will receive a new playing surface at Les Murakami Stadium in 2025. Rainbow Warriors Head Coach Rich Hill announced that the long-awaited turf replacement has been officially green-lit. The current 16-year-old surface will be replaced with an all-artificial turf, including the pitcher’s mound, set to begin in October with completion targeted for January. This upgrade will give the stadium a new look, featuring a darker infield and UH branding in centerfield.

Woman suffers severe burns after car bursts into flames after crash in Maili
MAILI, Hawaii (Island News) -- A woman suffered serious burn injuries following a car crash on Paakea Road in Maili, Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 2 p.m. According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the victim – a woman in her 30s – was driving on Paakea Road when she crashed into a power pole, causing her car to burst into flames.

Known for their exemplary research, the couple has been a powerhouse in Southeast Asian studies, writing extensively on the history of Indonesia and Malaysia for many decades. Medical school welcomes Dean Sam Shomaker
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) welcomed Sam Shomaker as its sixth dean on July 1. Shomaker is a 1986 JABSOM graduate and former vice dean from 2000 to 2005 and interim dean from 2005 to 2006. He returns to the UH medical school after leading the Austin campus for the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
