Columbus Legion Seniors and Juniors’ Area Tourney Openers are Tonight
The Columbus Legion Seniors and Juniors both open play tonight as the top seed in their area tournaments. The Cornerstone Insurance Group Seniors are hosting the A-6 area Senior tourney at Pawnee Park. Cornerstone meets number 6 seed Lincoln High tonight at 7 p.m. Columbus went 16-15 in the regular season, while Lincoln High’s Sampson Construction team was 9-16. Sodbusters Down Fremont And Take Series
Hastings, Nebraska- The Hastings Sodbusters handed the Fremont Moo a 14-4 defeat Thursday night at Duncan Field. Hastings won the final two games of the three game series. After a scoreless first inning, Fremont plated three runs in the top of the second. Against Hastings starter Cohen Evans, Fremont’s Isaac Bonner led off with a single. Two batters later, Grant Nottleman was hit by a pitch. Two wild pitches would eventually bring Bonner around to score, making it 1-0. After Jack Torosian drew a walk, Carson Burnett doubled, scoring Nottleman, to make it a 2-0 Fremont lead. The next batter, Carter Sintek, grounded out to short, scoring Torosian, and Fremont led 3-0.
