The Dewey High School boys and girls basketball teams swept Chelsea on Tuesday on the Bulldoggers' home court.

The Bulldoggers' 57-55 win over Chelsea clinches Dewey the conference, which includes teams from Nowata, Caney Valley, Oklahoma Union and Chelsea.

“I’m so happy and proud of my guys winning the conference,” said Bulldoggers head coach Lance Knight. “We are playing great teams and finding ways to finish games.”

The Bulldoggers (12-7) took a 14-point lead in the second quarter against Chelsea, but were up by only 4 points at halftime.

“It was back and forth the rest of the game,” said Coach Knight. “We never gave up the lead, but they did tie it at one point.”

Dewey’s Zaiden Masters and Jace Williams are both averaging 12 points a game. Dewey’s Karson Johnson led all scorers with 19 points. Ryder Muninger added 6 points, while Zane Griggs and Haven Becker scored 5 points each.

The Dewey Lady Bulldoggers (7-12) got a big confidence booster heading into next week’s playoffs with a 41-36 win over the Chelsea Lady Dragons.

“I’m proud of these girls coming in and working hard every day to get better,” said Lady Bulldoggers head coach Michael Sanders. “And it’s paying off.”

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldoggers was CJ Jones with 9 points, followed by Mylee Garrison with 8 points and Kyla Overton with 7 points.

Next up for Dewey is Senior Night at home Friday night against Pawhuska. Seniors will be honored following the girl’s game.
