The 2024 Missouri Governor’s Cup Wine Competition, held in Columbia, Missouri, on July 10-11, brought together some of the state’s finest wineries in a prestigious event showcasing the best of Missouri wines. Eight esteemed judges dedicated two days to blind tasting 239 wines from across the state, awarding 35 gold, 124 silver, and 56 bronze medals.

Shamrock Hills Vineyard and Winery, a newcomer to the Missouri wine scene and with just over one year in business, is celebrating a successful debut at the Competition. Despite facing stiff competition from established wineries across the state, Shamrock Hills took home a silver medal for their 2023 Vignoles and bronze medals for their 2023 Carbonated Moscato and 2023 Chardonel.

“We are honored to be recognized among such talented Missouri winemakers,” says owner Denise Riley. “We’re especially grateful for the support of the Excelsior Springs community and fellow wineries like Van Till Family Farm Winery and Fence Stile Vineyards and Winery, who generously offered guidance and advice throughout our first vintage.”

Riley emphasizes the collaborative spirit of the Missouri wine industry. “We’re fortunate to be part of a community where people work together and help each other succeed,” she says. She expresses gratitude to the University of Missouri Grape and Wine Institute and its staff for their invaluable assistance.
