EXETER — The Exeter Police Department is gearing up for National Night Out, which will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Town House Common, located at the corner of Front and Court streets.

The public is invited to attend the annual event, which aims to strengthen police-community partnerships.

The event will feature live music, police cruisers and other vehicles, including from the Exeter Fire Department, a dunk tank, face painting, games, food trucks, balloon animals, temporary tattoos, booths from community organizations, and more. Members of other local law enforcement agencies will also be in attendance.

"National Night Out is the perfect opportunity for us to connect with members of our community and beyond," said Exeter police Detective Bruce Page, who also serves as the department's community resource officer and National Night Out organizer. "In past years, it was held at Swasey Parkway, but last year, we held it at Town House Common, and by all accounts, the new venue was a big success. The smaller space made for a more intimate event, so we’ve decided to hold it in the same location again this year."

While the event is free, there is a cost associated with purchases from the food trucks.

The Police Department will offer complimentary snow cones with bottled water and popcorn provided by the Exeter Area Lions Club.

The Exeter Area New Car Dealers Association is the primary sponsor with additional support from the Exeter Kiwanis Club, the Knights of Columbus, and Stratham Staples.
