Iowans Will Get to Experience a ‘Buck Moon’ This Weekend!
This weekend Iowans and other moon gazers will get to witness a 'Buck Moon.'. The moon will appear full for the next 3 days, from tonight (July 19) through Monday (July 22) morning. Normally full moons occur every 30-ish days as the moon moves across the side of the earth.
Wachholtz and Ballard honored by Governor for volunteerism
Paula Wachholtz of Panora and Cathy Ballard of Guthrie Center were honored June 25 during the annual Iowa 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Awards ceremony. The two were among more than 400 Iowans similarly honored. This was the 40thyear of the awards program. Individuals and groups were honored, and length of service awards were also given.

Missouri governor candidate arrives in Kirksville in 'Trump Train'
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — A Missouri governor candidate took a unique mode of transportation to Kirksville. Republican Chris Wright traveled to northeast Missouri in what's called the "Trump Train", a truck hauling a trailer carrying three large replicas of elephants and campaign signs for former President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, alongside his own.
Waukee Arts Festival attracts thousands to Centennial Park

City Of Manning Donating A Newly Developed Lot To The IKM-Manning School District
The Manning City Council has approved donating one of the Stadium View Drive lots to the IKM-Manning School District for the school’s upcoming trade project. Back in June, the school district approved partnering up with Manning Municipal Utilities (MMU) to provide students with a work-based learning of the different trades used when constructing a new house. The City of Manning will donate one of the lots from the Stadium View pocket neighborhood to be the permanent location for the students’ project. Once completed, the house will become available for purchase by interested buyers. The other homes in the neighborhood are currently being designed and constructed by Origin Homes, a custom-home building contractor based out of West Des Moines. West Des Moines woman allegedly brandishes kitchen knife in fight
A West Des Moines woman was arrested early Friday after she allegedly brandished a kitchen knife in the course of a domestic dispute. Christina Coronado, 38, of 7255 Lake Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-display or use a weapon and two counts of child endangerment.
Carroll City Council To Review Ziegler, ECHO Group Developer Agreements And Plans For Burned Shelter House At Monday’s Meeting
Economic development will be the primary focus of the Carroll City Council’s upcoming meeting on Monday. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall on July 22. One of their first items of business is to cancel the public hearing for the Ziegler Caterpillar development agreement. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says it is important to understand this is a procedural cancellation, and Ziegler remains dedicated to building a new retail site on Carroll’s western edge.

Drivers In Two Vehicle Crash Have Minor Injuries
A two-vehicle crash in Linn County Friday evening left both drivers with minor injuries. State Troopers report 43-year-old Amber Gully of Marceline was westbound on Lowen Road near Marceline and 22-year-old Taylor Douglas of Brookfield was eastbound. The vehicles met in a blind curve and struck in the middle of the roadway. Both drivers were taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Douglas was not wearing a safety belt.
