With the arrival of fall, it’s be time to look for that perfect pumpkin for carving or using them as colorful fall decorations. Nothing says fall fun like visiting one of our local pumpkin patches to find the perfect gourd, and there's a huge one in downtown Beaufort.

Carteret Street United Methodist Church turns into one big pumpkin patch every year and adds a huge touch of fall to the heart of downtown.

Their fresh pumpkins of all shapes and sizes arrived over the weekend and the pumpkin patch is now open for business. Each season, the pumpkins sold at Carteret Street UMC are are grown by Navajo Indians in New Mexico and are shipped to the church in tractor trailers.

Some of them are just huge.

This year, the patch has expanded its selection and has some very eclectic choices. We noticed hundreds of different gourds, some star shaped, and some very cool green ones that would make a very creatively interesting Halloween decoration.

The pumpkin patch is also a great spot for photos. Volunteers have set up several spooky scenes where you can grab an early season photo of the little ones.

In addition to the huge pumpkin patch, the church is also hosting its annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 12th. In addition to visiting the pumpkin patch during the event, you can find great deals at the bazaar and enjoy some baked goods and concession stands as well.

The pumpkin patch is run by an all-volunteer staff, and its proceeds benefit the church's youth ministry.

The Carteret Street United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch is located at 408 Carteret Street in historic downtown Beaufort. It's open Sunday through Friday from 12pm – 6pm, and Saturdays 9am – 6pm, through the month of October.
