Floyd Mayweather is facing a lawsuit over an alleged assault involving a member of his security team. The lawsuit comes two years after the alleged incident and accuses the famed boxers’ bodyguard of battery.

The alleged incident took place in 2022 when the boxer and his entourage, the Mayweather Money Team, entered the Yard House restaurant near the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Due to his celebrity status, a crowd started forming, causing commotion.

However, one of the patrons, Eduardo Martinez, who was using his cellphone to record the Mayweather Money Team , caught the attention of the boxer and his team, including security. In the suit against Mayweather, the complainant, Martinez, said a member of the boxer’s team assaulted him.

Per the lawsuit, he said Mayweather’s security “negligently, carelessly, intentionally, maliciously and/or physically touched, struck and/or hit [the victim],” resulting in him falling to the ground.

Martinez claimed Yard House’s team did nothing and allowed Mayweather’s team to assault him. The man said he was “placed in great fear for his life, health, and safety” during the encounter.

Initial reports on the matter said the altercation escalated, with the bodyguard attempting to seize the patron’s cell phone, allegedly causing further harm. Police were called to the scene 30 minutes later.

As per reports, Mayweather left the restaurant due to overcrowding but the alleged victim reported feeling fearful for his life. Also, police said their investigation revealed inconsistencies in the victim’s account compared to witness statements.

The complainant is seeking more than $3 million in damages from the boxer. Martinez, as per RadarOnline.com , is seeking the court to award him $1.5 million in general damages, $500k for future medical expenses, $40k for past medical expenses, $300k for loss of future earnings, and $1 million in punitive damages.

This is not the first time the ex-boxer has been hit with a lawsuit as a result of an assault. According to TMZ, a 32-year-old man filed a police report that claimed Floyd became upset after he asked the fighter for a photo. The man claimed Floyd assaulted him but Floyd denied he ever touched the man. No charges were ever brought over the incident.
