The Boston Celtics will hope to end the longest streak of different NBA champions in history by successfully retaining their title in the 2024-25 season. Reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown commented on the Celtics' season gone by, emphasizing the importance of looking ahead to repeating this success next season.

“Last year is over, to be honest. We celebrated, we had a good time, it’s been an awesome summer — I’ve been having a great summer, by the way — but it’s over with, and now it’s back to work. Now we got the target on our back, everybody is trying to come after us, and I'm like, 'Come on.' It's back to work and I'm looking forward to next season.”

Brown recently shared a picture of him lifting weights underwater , showing that the Celtics swingman is already ramping up to the season which starts in the third week of October. Training camp and pre-season start to get underway around late September, so players have about a month of their offseason left before it's back to competition.

Brown averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists last season, excelling throughout the regular season as Boston's second option before stepping up in the Playoffs to win both Eastern Conference and NBA Finals MVP over teammate Jayson Tatum .

While people believe that outcome and their complicated summers could slow the team down next season, there isn't a basketball reason to say that any of the other 29 teams in the NBA have surpassed their roster on paper this summer.

Jaylen Brown Motivated After Being Snubbed By Team USA

One of the biggest talking points of the summer was the very intentional snubbing of Jaylen Brown by Team USA, who controversially left him off the roster in favor of Celtics teammate Derrick White. While Brown and White have quashed any issues between them, the reigning Finals MVP believes he was a victim of sneaker politics.

Brown's former coach and current GM Brad Steven commented on the same, saying that Brown should've been selected but the snub should further motivate him for next season .

"I saw Grant Hill said he’d love to sit down and talk to him about being part of that pool in ‘28, whatever that may be. But I think Jaylen is one of the best players in the world. And one of the best things about Jaylen is whether he gets the call and makes the team or doesn’t get the call, he’s going to use it as motivation to get better."

"So I know he’s working and he’s excited about improving. I think he’ll truly embrace the challenges that come with winning last year. That’s who he’s always been. And this will probably add more fuel to his fire. But he doesn’t need much fuel added. He finds it."

Brown won't worry about the 2028 USA National Team right now, as it's time to get ready for a title defense against a very challenging field of teams.
