The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for a potential championship run in the 2024-25 season following the 4-year, $212 million signing of All-Star swingman Paul George . George creates a Big Three in Philadelphia alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and the team has everything they need following a successful offseason. Add in the fact that they signed impressive Olympic performer Guerschon Yabusele and things are improving in City of Brotherly Love. Looking at their roster, we have divided every player into one of six tiers with Tier 1 consisting of superstar Joel Embiid.

    Tier 1: Superstars

    Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid remains the heart and soul of the Philadelphia 76ers, entering the 2024-25 season as one of the most dominant forces in the NBA. Fresh off another MVP-caliber campaign where he averaged 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, Embiid's ability to dominate on both ends of the court makes him an invaluable asset. His defensive presence, elite post-game, and ability to stretch the floor give the 76ers a unique advantage. As the centerpiece of the Sixers’ championship hopes following a strong Olympic performance this summer, Embiid will once again be expected to lead the team deep into the playoffs.

    Tier 2: All-Stars

    Tyrese Maxey, Paul George

Tyrese Maxey has emerged as one of the most electrifying young guards in the league. After a breakout season where he averaged 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game while winning Most Improved Player, Maxey’s rapid development has made him a cornerstone for the 76ers. His blazing speed, improved shooting, and ability to create his own shot make him a perfect complement to Embiid and George. With his confidence growing, Maxey is poised to take another leap this season, solidifying his status as an All-Star and possibly a superstar.

The addition of Paul George elevates the 76ers to a new level, forming a dynamic Big Three. George brings a wealth of experience and two-way ability to Philadelphia, coming off a season where he averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. His ability to score from anywhere on the court, combined with his elite perimeter defense, will be critical for the Sixers. George’s presence alleviates pressure on both Embiid and Maxey, making the 76ers a formidable force in the Eastern Conference.

    Tier 3: Fringe All-Stars

    None

    Tier 4: Key Role Players

    Caleb Martin, Kelly Oubre Jr.

Caleb Martin brings versatility and defensive toughness to the 76ers. Known for his clutch performances in Miami, Martin averaged 10.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season. His ability to defend multiple positions, hit timely three-pointers, and contribute in transition makes him a key role player for Philadelphia. Martin’s energy and hustle will be invaluable as the Sixers look to contend in a competitive Eastern Conference.

Kelly Oubre Jr. provides athleticism and scoring punch to the Sixers’ wing rotation. After a productive season with the 76ers where he averaged 15.4 points per game, Oubre provides instant offense off the bench or as a spot starter. His ability to slash to the basket, finish in transition, and hit the occasional three-pointer makes him a valuable asset. Oubre’s defensive potential and ability to create his own shot will be critical for the 76ers, especially in key matchups against elite wings.

    Tier 5: Supplementary Pieces

KJ Martin, Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson, Guerschon Yabusele

KJ Martin is a high-flying forward known for his energy, athleticism, and highlight-reel dunks. Last season, he averaged 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, showcasing his ability to impact the game with his hustle and finishing ability. Martin’s versatility and motor make him a valuable contributor, particularly in transition and on the boards. His continued development as a shooter will determine his long-term role with the 76ers.

Andre Drummond provides the 76ers with a reliable backup center who can dominate the glass. A former rebounding champion, Drummond averaged 8.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in limited minutes last season. His ability to protect the rim, control the boards, and score in the paint gives Philadelphia a strong interior presence off the bench. Drummond’s experience and size will be crucial in spelling Embiid and maintaining the team’s defensive intensity.

The 35-year-old Eric Gordon is a veteran sharpshooter who brings valuable scoring and leadership to the 76ers’ second unit. Last season, he averaged 11.0 points per game while shooting 37.8% from three-point range. Gordon’s ability to space the floor, hit clutch shots, and create his own offense will be vital for Philadelphia, particularly in playoff situations. His experience and basketball IQ make him a key piece for the 76ers’ championship aspirations.

Reggie Jackson provides the 76ers with a seasoned point guard who can run the offense and score when needed. Jackson averaged 10.2 points and 3.8 assists per game last season, offering solid production off the bench. His ability to handle the ball, knock down open shots, and provide veteran leadership will be valuable in guiding the second unit. Jackson’s playoff experience and versatility make him an important depth piece for the 76ers.

Guerschon Yabusele will certainly have an impact for the 76ers as a supplementary player even if his NBA career averages sit at 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. Yabusele has found some success playing overseas, most recently with Real Madrid, and signed a one-year, $2.1 million deal to play for the Sixers.

    Tier 6: Bench

Jared McCain, Ricky Council IV, Adem Bona

Jared McCain is a promising rookie guard known for his scoring ability and basketball IQ. McCain will need time to develop as a No. 16 overall pick, but his shooting and playmaking skills could earn him minutes in the rotation. McCain’s growth and adaptability will determine his impact on the team this season.

Ricky Council IV is a second-year wing with a reputation for athleticism and defensive potential. Known for his ability to defend multiple positions, Council will likely spend time developing his offensive game in his rookie season. His energy and defensive versatility could see him earn spot minutes as he adjusts to the NBA level.

Adem Bona is a rookie big man with impressive physical tools and shot-blocking ability. As a raw prospect, Bona will focus on honing his skills and gaining experience. His potential as a rim protector and rebounder could make him a valuable piece for the 76ers down the line, though he may see limited action early on.
