The basketball world witnessed some incredible action at the 2024 Paris Olympics and Netflix has revealed it will release its docuseries on the tournament in 2025. It had been announced before the Olympics that Netflix would be making one and a teaser picture of the series was posted on X, with jerseys of LeBron James , Nikola Jokic , Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Franz Wagner in it.

As for what one should expect to see in this series, this is what the International Olympic Committee had stated back in May.

"Olympic Men’s Basketball will give all access to the sport’s promising hopefuls and medal contenders from across the world as they first battle to qualify for Paris 2024 before setting their sights on the Olympic podium. Through a generation of legends, the six-episode series will also explore what has led the game to become such a global, competitive phenomenon. Produced by Words and Pictures, the Olympic Channel and Higher Ground Productions."

This should be an interesting watch, with the series even covering the qualification rounds. We're sure to hear some inspirational tales, like that of South Sudan.

The 2024 Olympics ended with Team USA emerging victorious yet again. It was their fifth straight gold medal at the grand event, but they had to work hard for it. Serbia, who won the bronze, gave them an almighty scare in the semifinal while France put up a valiant fight in the gold medal game before losing 98-87.

It was a sign that while the rest of the world hasn't caught up with the U.S. just yet when it comes to basketball, the gap certainly is nowhere near as wide as it once was. The game has well and truly gone global and I can't wait for the 2028 LA Olympics. It might just be the most tightly-contested tournament that we have seen in a while.

Netflix Is Also Launching An NBA Docuseries Which Will Feature Five Stars

This docuseries on the Olympics isn't the only basketball one that we are going to be treated to. Netflix will be launching an NBA docuseries, featuring the likes of LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, and Jayson Tatum.

"Sources: Netflix is creating a new NBA documentary series modeled after its NFL 'Quarterback' show," reported Shams Charania in a tweet. "The five players chosen for first season of the project: LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, and Domantas Sabonis."

LeBron's SpringHill Company has teamed up with Barack Obama's Higher Ground Productions and Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions to produce the series, so you'd assume the Los Angeles Lakers star will feature fairly heavily in it. Netflix has not announced the name of the show or when it will be released just yet, though. If I had to guess, it probably will come out before the start of the 2024-25 season.
