DeMar DeRozan recently appeared on Jeff Teague's Club 520 podcast and flamed him accidentally during the episode. DeRozan spoke about not wanting to go down as just a one-time All-Star while Teague, a one-time All-Star, was sitting right there.

"In 2013, I had torn my groin off the bone," DeRozan said. "It was like 6-7 games into the season, I just tried to turn the corner with the ball (and) slipped. Tore my whole groin. I was so worried... I think the year before I had made All-Star, so I'm like, 'Man, f***.' I didn't want to be a one-time All-Star type of n****."

The whole crew burst out laughing upon hearing that. DeRozan hilariously tried to tell Teague he wasn't trying to throw shade at him but he had accidentally done just that.

"My bad JT, my bad," DeRozan stated. "... I didn't even think about it, bro."

I suppose it is easy to forget that Teague made the All-Star team in 2015 when he was with the Atlanta Hawks . With all due respect to him, that selection was more down to the Hawks having the best record by far in the East at 43-11 at the All-Star break. Four of their players made the team, Teague, Al Horford, Paul Millsap, and Kyle Korver.

Teague would finish that 2014-15 season with averages of 15.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. The Hawks would go on to win 60 games in that campaign and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Unfortunately, there they were swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Teague would never really come close to making the All-Star ever again in his career. The 36-year-old did at least manage to win a championship in 2021 with the Milwaukee Bucks, though, in what was the last season of his NBA career,

As for DeRozan, he seems to have made a mistake with the year. He suffered that groin injury in November 2014 against the Dallas Mavericks. The injury led to him not being named an All-Star in 2015, after making the team for the first time in 2014.

You can understand that, at the time, DeRozan wanted to avoid being a one-timer, and, fortunately, for him, he'd make many more appearances in the future. The 35-year-old is now a six-time All-Star and is still going strong.

DeRozan averaged 24.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game for the Chicago Bulls in the 2023-24 campaign. He didn't make the All-Star team last season, though, and that might change in 2024-25 as he is now with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings landed DeRozan in a sign-and-trade deal this offseason, giving him a three-year, $73.7 million deal. He has been brought in with the expectation that he will take their offense to another level and get them back into the playoffs.

I think DeRozan will do just that and I believe the Kings will have one of the best offenses in the NBA next season. I don't see them winning the title, but they should be able to make some noise in the postseason.
