LeBron James and Bronny James will become the first father-son duo to step out on the court together in the NBA in the 2024-25 season. Some ground rules have already been set for when it happens too, with LeBron recently revealing he has told Bronny not to call him "dad" when they're at the workplace. Not long after that, the 39-year-old took to X to joke about Bronny saying it and how hilarious that would be.

“Dad get yo a** back on defense”

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bronny says Dad a few times on the court next season in the heat of the moment. The reason is that LeBron stated the 19-year-old is accustomed to calling him that and needs to make an adjustment now.

Bronny is only allowed to call him 2-3, or Bron, or GOAT, but Dad will slip out at some point and it will be hilarious. I need either of these two to be mic'd up for every game so that the moment gets captured. As for LeBron himself, he revealed he doesn't need to adjust as he has been calling Bronny by his name for a long time.

All the joking aside, it will be a special and historic moment when father and son share the court for the first time. The Los Angeles Lakers will be playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves on the opening night of the 2024-25 season, and it will be interesting to see if Bronny does get to play along with LeBron in that contest.

While Bronny has made it to the NBA as the 55th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, it is clear that he is not ready yet to play significant minutes in the league. He averaged just 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in the Summer League in Las Vegas and is still a very raw prospect.

I would expect Bronny to spend a fair bit of next season in the G League and just make a few appearances in the NBA. The question is when will those appearances come?

Logically, you'd assume it might not be at the start of the season, but at maybe around the halfway point, when Bronny has had some proper game time under his belt in the G League. Then again, though, LeBron might not want to wait for much longer to play with his son, so I don't think anyone on the outside can say for sure what's going to happen.

While Bronny is not going to be playing a big role for the Lakers next season, his father certainly will. LeBron averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game last season and the team will be heavily relying on him once again in 2024-25.

As of now, though, I don't see next season ending on a positive note for LeBron and the Lakers. They exited in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs after finishing with a 47-35 record and I don't see them going on a deep run next season either. While they have a new head coach in JJ Redick, no significant additions have been made to a roster that is simply not good enough to win the title.
